5 Weeks 10lbs. 14oz

Addie had her one month appointment on Tuesday, which technically was one day shy of 5 weeks. She weighed in at 10lbs. 14oz and 22 1/2 inches long, which means since birth she has gained 2lbs. 1 oz and has grown 2 1/2 inches.

She is starting to interact more with her toys and is smiling more and more everyday. Since it has rained non stop lately Barry has been home more than usual. It has been nice to have him home, but unfortunately once it starts to dry up he will be spending most of his time in the fields.

Barry will be working his first double shift since Addie was born, so I am sure we will be visiting the fire Station a few times in the next couple of days. What will we do with no Daddy for 48 hours?

Sleeping update: We have finally managed to get Addie to sleep in her crib. Sometimes I have to get up every couple of hours, but since I had slept on the couch for a month, 2 hours in bed is wonderful.

We went on our first shopping trip last weekend! Okay so I don't know if you can call it a shopping trip, but we got some cool things at the Earlville Town Wide garage sales. I got some cute new outfits for Addie and some still had the tags on them.

4 Weeks Old

It is hard to believe it has been 4 weeks since Addie was born. It has been a very busy and exciting 4 weeks.

This past weekend Addie and I took our first road trip (without daddy). We went with my mom to see Uncle Brent, Aunt Cathy, and Cousin Kayla in Kentucky. Addie did so well on our 6+ hour drive. Usually it would take us 6, but now more like 7. She only cried when she was hungry, so we would stop, feed her, change her, and be back on the road. I hope she always travels this well. We arrived at my brothers house Friday night and returned home Tuesday afternoon. Saturday was beautiful, so we went for a walk at the local park. Since it rained the rest of the time we were there we just hung out in the house visiting and playing with the girls. We had so much fun!

First day without Daddy

Tuesday we went to the Pediatrician for Adelynn's 2 week check up. She was almost back to her birth weight. She weighed in at 8lbs. 12oz. They are no longer concerned about the Jaudice, so for once she didn't have to have blood drawn.

Yesterday was Barry first day back to work, which meant that I actually had to change diapers. Not that I mind changing diapers, but that has been Daddy's job for the last 2 weeks. It also meant that I could have whatever I wanted on the TV. Thank god, I was getting sick of watching nothing but sports. Our first 24 hours without Daddy went just fine. My mom had the day off, so she came to help out. It was so nice outside we decided to take Adelynn for her first walk. Once the stroller started moving she went right to sleep and didn't wake up until we got back home. It felt so good to be out in the fresh air!

We had one successful night in the crib, but that is it. Oh well, we will keep trying.

1st Bottle

I have been meaning to post these pictures for awhile, but apparently I got a little side tracked.

Week 1

We have been at home for a week and what a week it has been. Even though Adelynn was released from the hospital because her Bili Rubin count had gone done she still had to have her blood checked daily to make sure the levels stayed down. On Tuesday we went to the pediatrician for a check up and her levels had gone back up, so she had to be put back under the lights. Luckily this time it was a little wrap around light that we could use at home. We had to keep it on her as much as possible, so that is what we did. We didn't take it off of her for 48 hours until her levels came down enough to get rid of it. The light was attached to a 5 foot hose, so her life for 2 days took place in a small area in the living room.

Once we got to take the light off it was playtime.

I discovered that it is a bad idea to put a hat on Addie before her hair is completely dry. When the hat came off her hair stood straight up and it would not go down.





Barry is amazed at how much a little baby can poop. I definitely under estimated how many diapers and wipes we need. Barry has changed probably 95% of the diapers, since I was very sore for several days after delivery. The first couple of days home it would usually take him about 2 or 3 diapers per changing. He would be changing a wet diaper and then when he got the clean one under her she would poop. Now she atleast waits about 5 or 10 minutes after a diaper change to go again.

Other than Adelynn being a poop factory she is a very good baby. She doesn't cry much and when she does it usually is pretty obvious what the problem is. Barry swears that one day she is going to get a hold of his nipple. Apparently he had his shirt of the other night and she came really close to latching on. During the day she will sleep about anywhere, but when we try to put her in her crib at night she may sleep for a little bit but not for long. She usually lays in there and kicks and eventually cries because she has had enough. If I hold her she will sleep for 4 hours, eat, and then sleep for another 4 hours. We will keep trying the crib every night and hopefully she will get used to it sometime soon.

Home Sweet Home

We were originally planning on getting out of the hospital on Friday, but Adelynn had to stay an extra night because she was Jaundice. We ended up getting released from the hospital Saturday morning.

Thankfully Adelynn only had to spend one night under the lights for her Jaundice. It was very difficult for us to see our baby girl like this. I was actually released from the hospital on Friday, but I was lucky enough to be able to remain in my hospital room so I could go into the nursery to feed her every 2 hours.

Still Waiting......

Not much news this week. I have dilated a little more since last week, but nothing to drastic. The nurses said they were surprised to see me this week. So apparently everyone at the doctors office thought that I was going to go early, but apparently our little girl is comfortable right where she is. Me on the other hand is not so comfortable where she is. After bragging to people how good I have felt through my whole pregnancy I am finally becoming uncomfortable. I still try to be pretty active, but I have had to do things a little slower than I am used to. Oh well, it is all worth the outcome!

Barry is off of work starting today and won't go back until April 9th, so the sooner she arrives the more time I will have help at home. If nothing happens in the next couple of weeks the doctor will probably end up inducing me on April 2nd. Hopefully she will decide to make her appearance naturally before then.

Weekly Doctor Update

I have gotten in trouble several times in the last couple of days because I am a little slow at posting my doctors appointment update. So here it is...... As of yesterday I was still dilated 2cm. The baby is head down, but face forward. Ideally she would be faced backwards. The doctor said that since she is facing forward it can slow things down. Majority of babies will turn themselves during the early stages of labor, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that our little girl will cooperate. Maybe I won't go early after all. I guess time will tell.

After 1 Year of Marriage

I know it would have been a better comparison if we would have taken our picture in the same swim suits we had on a year ago, but I didn't want to make anyone sick!



I can't believe it has been one year since our Wedding! At this time 1 year ago we were in Sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida getting ready to board the Beautiful Carnival Liberty Cruise ship.


Today we are in rainy Ottawa, IL waiting for the birth of our baby girl. It has been a wonderful year and I am excited for what the future brings.
